"Wanna Be Designers" vs.
Graphic Artist/Designers who have printing studios:
(1) Have no typographical or
design background in typesetting in appropriate
software or art or design background and their work
shows it in poor layouts and typography, and leading or
spacing in their printed work.
(2) May sometimes be using a
design package sold out of several suppliers but NOT
know how to implement it for
maximum results shown in their
dealer samples because they did not print the samples
themselves.
(3) Copy other people's work
and claim it as their own, and often cannot even
duplicate a design well, and rarely have excellent
original ideas of their own.
(4) Lack true creativity in
seeing capturing your vision or the experience and
knowledge to find the appropriate paper colors and
textures and weights for the appropriate printing
processes.
(5) Don't know how to prepare
typography or typesetting of your wording for print
production.
(6) Use their own inkjet
printers and worse, powdered printers for their
production work.
(7) Do not possess the
software or ability to design a wedding and reception
map for you. In fact, most of the suppliers above will
NOT have this ability either. You will have to find a
graphics person to design your map, and then, hope to
find the appropriate matching paper, and font to make
your wedding invitation ensemble come together.
(8) Refer you to other
calligraphers or have very little experience in
computer or hand calligraphy.
